abstract | PURPOSE: To provide a fungicidal bactericidal agent containing a 2,3-dicyano-5- chloropyrazine derivative (a novel compound) as an effective component, and effective to prevent plant blight and various troubles of industrial material caused by microorganisms. n CONSTITUTION: A fungicidal bactericidal agent containing a compound of formula (R is H, lower alkyl, substituted or non-substituted phenyl) as an effective component. The agent is effective to fungi and bacteria which cause various troubles to plants, textile fibers, synthetic resin, wood, paint, industrial water, etc., and exhibits a wide microbicidal spectrum especially to fungi at a low concentration. The compound of formula is a novel compound, and is prepared by treating a 2,3- dicyano-5-hydroxypyrazine derivative with a chlorinating agent.
