| abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain a polyester useful as a photographic film, having improved uniformity of film products, by adding a calcium and a phosphorus compounds in an ester exchange reaction, followed by feeding a specific amount of a tri- and a pentravalent phosphorous compounds in polycondensation. n CONSTITUTION: Before the end of an enter exchange reaction of a lower alkyl terephthalate and a glycol consisting mainly of ethylene glycol, (A) a calcium compound (e.g., calcium acetate) soluble in the reaction system and (B) not more than one-fifth mole based on the component A of a phosphorus compound soluble in the reaction system are added.
