titleOfInvention Purification of phosphate for electrical insulation
abstract PURPOSE: To remove impurities of a phosphate and to purify it in such a degree that it can be used as insulating oil, by subjecting the phosphate to cleaning treatment, diluting it with aromatic insulating oil, followed by submitting it to electrophoresis, adsorption treatment, degasification and dewatering. n CONSTITUTION: A phosphate is subjected to cleaning treatment including alkali washing process to remove impurities, phosphoric acid monoester linked with chlorine, hydrogen chloride, etc. To this phosphate aromatic insulating oil, e.g., an alkylnaphthalene is added and the phosphate is diluted so that its viscosity is reduced to make the subsequent treatment easy. The phosphate is then subjected to electrophoresis under DC voltage and adsorption treatment by an adsorbent consisting of a granular inorganic silicate. At last, the phosphate is submitted to degasification and dewatering to give a purified phosphate having improved electrical properties, which as insulating oil can be filled directly in an oil-containing condenser. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
