| abstract | PURPOSE: To improve the incubation efficiency of microorganisms, by communicating a plurality of partial horizontal plane-forming structures with circulating water downcomers and gas-liquid risers having gas dispersion nozzles in an incubating vessel. n CONSTITUTION: The incubation tank 1 comprises the gas vent hole 2, partial horizontal plane-forming structures 4, gas supply line 12, feed inlet 15, outlet 17, etc. The tank 1 is divided into the chambers 5aW5e by the structures 4, and communicated with the downcomers 13 and gas-liquid risers 7 having the gas dispersion nozzles 8 therein. The circulating water downcomer 14 is provided at the center. The culture fluid is lifted by gas bubbles via the risers 7 to a chamber just above, partly lowered to lower chambers via the downcomers 13, and lifted from the tank bottom.
