titleOfInvention Process for production of flocked sponge
abstract PURPOSE: To produce in one step a flocked sponge having good breathability and water absorption property by flowing expandable polyurethane on a short fiber layer in the form of sheet and heat-curing the polyurethane to effect the flocking of the short fiber layer simltaneously with the formation of a sponge layer. n CONSTITUTION: Three denier, 1.2 mm long short fibers are sprayed on a plate and arranged into a short fiber layer by application of slight vibration. An expandable latex or polyurethane is flowed on the short fiber layer and expanded by vulcanization or heating to provide the objective flocked sponge. n EFFECT: The sponge layer and the flock layer are not bonded together by use of an adhesive as in the case conventional ones. The present flocked sponge has no sealed portions and, therefore, it has good water absorption properties. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
