abstract PURPOSE: To automate the asphalt separation, to remove odor and to facilitate separating operation in measuring the ratio of asphalt to aggregate. n CONSTITUTION: Asphalt mixture 2 is measured in weight in dried condition, charged into a sample container 29, which is mounted with a filter material 31 and a cover 30, and an inlet 27 of a removable lid 28 is connected via pipe 16 to a solenoid valve 12 of a solvent tank 11 containing solvent such as carbon tetrachloride. A solenoid-actuating timer 67 of a control section 60 is used to set open/close time of the valve 12 to allow the measurement of quantity of the flow-in solvent; a motor 22 is actuated for predetermined time; a centrifugal separator 24 separates the mixture 2; and waste liquid of asphalt dissolved by the solvent is flowed to the preweighed filter material 31 and collected in a waste liquid tank 41. The weights of obtained asphalt and filter material are compared each before and after operation, and the results are used for asphalt separation. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
