titleOfInvention | Novel keto ester compound |
abstract | NEW MATERIAL:A β-keto ester compound of the formula (R 1 is H, halogen, or alkyl group; n and m are 1 or 2). n EXAMPLE: Ethyl p-hydroxybenzoylacetate. n USE: An intermediate for photographic yellow and pyrazolone magenta couplers, and antihalation and irradiation prevention dyes. n PROCESS: A hydroxybenzoic acid derivative is treated with acetic anhydride to give acetoxybenzoic acid, which is treated with phosphorus pentachloride to give an acetoxybenzoyl chloride derivative. The resulting derivative is reacted with an acetoacetic ester to form an alkyl acetoxybenzoyl-acetoacetate derivative, which is then reacted with acetic acid to afford an acetoxybenzoylacetic ester derivative. The resulting derivative is treated with an aqueous alkali to give the compound of the formula. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio |
