titleOfInvention | Preparation of ethylene copolymer |
abstract | PURPOSE: To prepare a copolymer giving the vulcanizate having improved physical properties, by copolymerizing ethylene with comonomers in the presence of a highly active polymerization catalyst comprising the reaction product of a vanadium compound with an epoxy compound, and an organoaluminum compound. n CONSTITUTION: Ethylene and a ≥3C α-olefin (e.g. propylene) or their mixture with a polyene (e.g. 1,4-hexadinene) are copolymerized in the presence of a catalyst system comprising (A) the reaction product of (i) a vanadium compound (e.g. vanadium oxytrichloride) with (ii) an epoxy group-containing compound (e.g. propylene oxide), and (B) an organoaluminum sesquichloride etc. The preferable molar ratio of (ii) to (i) is 1 to 0.2W8. n EFFECT: The catalyst can be prepared easily and inexpensively. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio |
