PURPOSE: To obtain a thermoplastic resin composition having water-swellability, which is useful as a material for packings, joints, etc., by milling, with heating, a thermoplastic resin and a saponified product of a starch/acrylonitrile copolymer in the absence of water. n CONSTITUTION: A water-swellable thermoplastic resin composition is obtained by milling, with heating, (A) 100pts.wt. of a thermoplastic resin and (B) a saponified product of a starch/acrylonitrile copolymer in the substantial absence of water. The component (A) need not be specified, and can be a resin such as PE, PP, PVAC or PVC. The component (B) is a saponified product obtained by grafting acrylonitrile onto a starch and saponifying the resulting graft copolymer in the presence of an alkali. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio |
