titleOfInvention Manufacture of roll
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a roll having a given diameter and a smooth surface without grinding and polishing, by a method wherein a roll core is inserted into an upright silicon rubber cylinder whose lower end is fitted on an outer circumference of a column base, and a hardening rubber plastic is poured into a gap provided between the rubber cylinder and the core for hardening thereat. n CONSTITUTION: A lower end of an upright silicon rubber cylinder 5 is fitted on an outer circumference of a columnar portion 1 of a column base 4, two gutter clamping devices 7a, 7b covering the columnar portion and being secured to the column base with bolts tightened. A roll core 8 is then inserted into the cylinder 5, the end thereof being fitted in a roll core support hole 3 of the base 4. A gap between the rubber cylinder 5 and the core 8 is filled with a cold hardening type silicon constituent 9. A rear end of the core 8 is inserted into a perforation 10 of a holder 13. The core 8 is held coaxially with the rubber cylinder 5, and with it the rubber constituent 9 is hardened. The holder 13 and clamping devices 7a, 7b are removed, and then the rubber cylinder is removed. A silicon rubber roll 14 covered with the hardened rubber constituent 9 can thus be obtained. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
