titleOfInvention Binder composition for casting mold
abstract PURPOSE: To decrease greatly hardening time without reducing the time during which wet sand can be used, by compounding phenolsulfonic acid to phenol resin as a hardening agent. n CONSTITUTION: A binder composition made by compounding 3W10pts.wt. phenolsulfonic acid to 100pts.wt. phenol resin. The phenolsulfonic acid is a cpd. prepared by substituting one of hydrogen atoms in the benzene ring with a sulfonic acid radical, and has ortho, meta, and para isomers, all these isomers being useful for the present invention. The phenol resin involves resol phenol resin prepared by the condensation of phenols with formaldehyde in the presence of an alkali, and modified phenol resin prepared by the cocondensation of phenols with a mixt. in an arbitrary ratio of urea, formaldehyde etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
