PURPOSE:To prevent the lowering of mechanical strength, processability, etc. of a styrene resin caused by addition of magnesium oxide as a flame-retardant, by adding a specific elastomer to the resin. CONSTITUTION:The title composition is prepared by compounding (A) 100pts.wt. of a polymer mixture composed of (a) 90-60wt% of a styrene resin composed mainly of styrene or its nucleus-substituted derivative, and (b) 10-40wt% of an elastomer composed of (I) a block copolymer of a mono-vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon and a conjugated diolefin and (II) an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer containing 15-70wt% of vinyl acetate, wherein the weight ratio of (I)-(II) is 1 to 0.2-3, and (B) 10-150pts.wt. of magnesium hydroxide having an average diameter of the primary particles of 0.05-20 microns. |
