titleOfInvention Nitrogen-containing monomer and its preparation
abstract NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (n is an integer ≥0; R is ≤4C alkyl group). n EXAMPLE: p-(N,N'-diethylethylene diamino-ethyl)styrene. n USE: Basic monomers capable of giving polymers or copolymers having aliphatic nitrogen atoms in the side chain, with improved coordination ability with metals, and usable for high polymer electrolytes, ion exchange resins, and adsorbents. The polymer of formula I ( n is a large number) is useful as a graft polymer. n PROCESS: A diamine of formula I is reacted with divinylbenzene in the presence of an alkali metal amide, preferably lithium amide, to give the objective compound of formula I. The first product is a compound of formula III, 1:1 adduct, which can be readily isolated due to a high reaction rate, and a high-molecular compound is solwly formed thereafter. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
