abstract PURPOSE: To obtain highly pure alkylene oxide addition compound having improved resistance to thermal discoloration, by treating a crude alkylene oxide addition compound with a silicate and aluminum oxide, or first with a silicate and then with aluminum oxide. n CONSTITUTION: A crude alkylene oxide addition compound obtained by reacting an alkylene oxide with an active hydrogen compound in the presence of a basic catalyst, or an organic solvent solution of the addition compound, is treated, before neutralizing, with a mixture of magnesium or aluminum silicate and aluminum oxide, or first with magnesium or aluminum silicate, and, optionally after removing the silicate, with aluminum oxide. n USE: Raw material of polyurethane, lubricant, cosmetics, etc., an additive, a monomer for copolymer, a surface active agent, a raw material of surface active agent, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
