titleOfInvention | Manufacture of metal boride colloid |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the title product for high-activity hydrogenation catalyst by dissolving a Fe, Co or Ni salt in lower alcohol and treating the soln. with alkali metal borohydride in the presence of an alcohol-sol. polymer as protective colloid. n CONSTITUTION: An Fe, Co or Ni salt such as acetate or nitrate is dissolved in methanol or the like in a nonoxidizing atmosphere, and to the soln. is added alkali metal borohydride in an amt. of 1.5 times as much as the metal salt by mol with stirring pref. at 10W30°C in the presence of an alcohol-sol. polymer as protective colloid, e.g. polyvinyl pyrrolidone with a polymerization degree of about 50W500. Thus, the title product is obtd, which is composed of very fine particles of a perfectly uniform transparent liquid. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio |
