titleOfInvention Flame-retardant for polyurethane resin
abstract PURPOSE: A flame-retardant which, when added to polyurethane resins, does not bloom and improves the flame-retarding or self-extinguishing property of the resins, which flame-retardant consisting of the reaction product of a halogen-containing compound and an organic polyisocyanate. n CONSTITUTION: The flame-retardant is obtained by reacting a halogen-containing compound having at least one active hydrogen in the molecule, with an organic polyisocyanate. The halogen-containing compound which can be used is, e.g., a compound represented by formula I, II or III, wherein X is Cl, Br, I, etc. Examples of the polyisocyanate include toluene-2, 4-diisocyanate, 4, 4'-,ethylene-bis(phenyl isocyanate), etc. The flame-retardant, when added to urethane resins in an appropriate amount, not only improves the flame-retarding or self-extinguishing property of the resins but also gives the resins satisfactory strength, elongation, elasticity, hand, light resistance and water resistance. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
