PURPOSE: To prepare a straight chain aldehyde useful as an industrial raw material, etc., selectively, by hydroformylating an olefin with H 2 and CO in the presence of platinum and a halide of IVb group element as catalysts and a complex of a dicoordinating ligand having a specific structure. n CONSTITUTION: An olefin, e.g. 2W20C alkene, etc., is hydroformylated with H 2 and CO in a solvent or in the absence of a solvent at 40W200°C and 5W500 bar in the presence of platinum catalyst, a halide of one or more metals selected from IVb group elements in the periodic table, e.g. SnCl 2 , etc., as a co-catalyst and a dicoordinating ligand expressed by the formula (n is 1W2; R is aryl) as a reaction accelerator, to give a straight chain aldehyde, e.g. butylaldehyde, etc. The reaction accelerator is, e.g. trans-2,3-bis(diphenyl-hosphinomethyl)norbornane, trans-2,3- bis(di-p-toluylphosphinomethyl)norbornane, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio |
