PURPOSE: To easily separation recover V, Mo, W, Ni, etc. deposited on waste catalyst used in a process for hydrogenation refining heavy oil, by chlorinating the catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: Carbon and V, Mo, W and VIII group metals such as Ni in the form of sulfides are deposited on waste catalyst used in hydrogenation refining of crude oil, reduced crude and other heavy oil. This catalyst is washed to remove crude oil, tar, etc. deposited, followed by treatment with Cl or S 2 Cl 2 , SCl 2 , etc. at 50W 350°C. V is separated as volatile vanadium chloride in the form of gas. Next, chlorination is carried out at 150W450°C to gasification recover Mo and W as chlorides. The chlorination of V, and that of Mo and W overlap with respect to temp., yet they can be separated by staggering the recovering time. Chlorides of VIII group metals such as Ni and Co formed by the chlorination are extracted with solvent such as water or alcohol and recovered. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio |
