titleOfInvention Preparation of piperazine derivative and its acid addition salt
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a piperazine derivative and its acid addition salt having an antitussive action, e.g. Eprazinon, by reacting a piperazine derivative with a propiophenone derivative. n CONSTITUTION: A piperazine derivative of formula I: (R is lower alkyl group) is reacted with a propiophenone derivative of formula II: (A is tertiary amino group which may be removed easily in reaction with the compound of formula I) in the presence of an organic solvent, e.g. benzene or toluene, at a temperature around the boiling point for 3W20 hr to give a compound of formula III. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a 2-phenyl-2-alkoxyethyl bromide with anhydrous piperazine under heating and refluxing. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio
