abstract PURPOSE: To prepare the title composition having improved surface appearance and mechanical properties, by compounding a thermoplastic resin with a flame retardant comprising a soild aromatic halogen compound treated its surface with a specific compound. n CONSTITUTION: A composition composed of (A) 100 parts by weight of a thermoplastic resin such as polyethylene, polyester, etc., and (B) 3W100, pref. 5W30 parts by weight of a flame retardant obtained by the surface treatment of (a) 100 parts by weight of a solid aromatic halogen compound having an average particle size of ≤50μ, e.g. decabromodiphenyl ether, decachlorodiphenyl ether, etc., with (b) 3-20, pref. 5-15 parts by weight of one or more compounds selected from fatty acids, fatty acid esters, fatty acid esters, fatty acid amides, metal salts of fatty acids, higher alcohols, and hydrocarbons solid at room temperature. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio
