abstract PURPOSE: A flame-retardant polyester composition that comprises a thermoplastic polyester, a compound bearing carbonate units, a brominated bisphenol epoxy compound and a specific metal compound. n CONSTITUTION: To 100 parts of a thermoplastic polyester softening at 180W800°C are added (B) 1W50 parts of a compound melting at over 280°C and having carbonate units of formula I (R 1 , R 2 are H, 1W5C alkyl, or incorporate to form 5W12C cycloalkane; 1, m are 1W4; n is 16 or more), (C) a brominated bisphenol epoxy compound of formula II (a, b, c, d are 0 or 1W4, where a + b + c + d is 1 or more; k is 0 or 1W2) and (D) a compound of metals of group Vb in the periodic table, wherein the weight ratio of (B)/(C) is 1:0.001W5 and the ratio of the total weight of (B)+(C) to the metal in (D) is 0.25W5:1. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio
