titleOfInvention Method of continuous esterification
abstract PURPOSE: The continuous esterification reaction between dicarboxylic acids mainly containing terephthalic acid and glycols is effected through a specific two-stage process, thereby producing esterification products with less DEG content in high productivity even in large scale production. n CONSTITUTION: The continuous esterification reaction between dicarboxylic acids mainly consisting of terephthalic acid and gylcols mainly consisting of ethylene glycol is carried out to produce the glycol esters of carboxylic acids and/or their oligomers, wherein first the slurry is esterified in completely mixing type reactor 4 to an extent of 80W92% esterification degree, then the esterification is continued using horizontal multistage cascade type reacror 9. The horizontal multistage cascade type reactor is provided with stirring shafts in the longitudinal direction to lift the reaction mixture to renew surfaces always, thereby expanding the evaporation area. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio
