abstract PURPOSE: To obtain metal cobalt powder with excellent electromagnetic conversion properties by reducing cobalt oxyhydroxide by means of prescribed processes. n CONSTITUTION: Using cobalt oxyhydroxide (CoO.OH) as a starting material, which is obtained for instance by a reaction of cobalt sulfate with sodium hydroxide. Obtaining Co metal powder by heat treating above mentioned starting meterial to convert to Co 2 O 3 and then reducing it, or by reducing the starting material directly.
