abstract NEW MATERIAL:1-(2,6-Dichloro-4-mitrophenyl)indoline-2,3-dione of formula I. n USE: Intermediate for 2-(2,6-dichloroanilino) phenylacetic acid usable as a raw material of pharmaceuticals for pair, inflammation, chronic arthrorheumatism, arthritis deformans, etc. n PROCESS: 2,6-Dichloro-4-nitrodiphenylamine is reacted with oxalyl chloride, preferably in the presence of an inert solvent at 20W100°C to form a compound of formula III, which is subjected to the Friedel-Crafts reaction in the presence of a catalyst, e.g. aluminum chloride, or an inert solvent to give the comopound of formula I. The starting compound of formula II can be obtained from 2, 6-dichloro-4-nitroaniline, anintermediate for inexpensive azo dispense dyes via a compound of formula IV. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio
