titleOfInvention | Production of extruded polyester foam |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain an extruded polyester foam of high ratio expansion which is foamed uniformly and finely, by injecting a low-boiling mateial into a blend of an aromatic polyester, a polyalkylene glycol diepoxide, and a metallic compound, followed by foaming the blend. n CONSTITUTION: (A) An aromatic polyester, e.g. polyethylene terephthalate, etc., having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.5W1.0 in 0-cholorophenol at 35°C is incorporated with (B) 0.005W5wt.%, preferably 0.1W4wt.%, based on the polyester of a polyalkylene glycol diepoxide, e.g. polypropylene glycol diglycidyl ether, etc., (C) 0.05W 3wt.%, preferably 0.1W2wt.% of a metal of groups IWIII A in the periodic table, e.g. Na, Ca, Al, etc., or its salt, e.g. sodium montanate, etc. 0.05W50wt.%, preferably 1W40wt.% of a blowing agent having a boiling point ≤ 200°C is injected into te blend thus formed in an extruder at 200W350°C, thus extruding and foaming the blend. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio |
