titleOfInvention Titanium oxide adsorbent for hot water and production thereof
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain an adsorbent of high performance by which transition metal ions such as Co ions are directly removed from hot water, by supporting a predetermined amt. of hydrated titanium oxide on γ- or η-alumina followed by heat treatmet at high temp. n CONSTITUTION: γ- or η-alumina is impregnated with a titanium alkoxide such as titanium isopropoxide so that 8.5W20 wt% of rutile-type titanium oxide is supported. The alkoxide on the carrier is then hydrolyzed with steam, etc. to be converted into hydrated titanium oxide. The hydrated titanium oxide-supported alumina carrier is calcined at 740W1050°C to obtain an adsorbent consisting of rutile type titanium oxide supported on alumina carrier. The adsorbent esp. shows its effect in case of removing Co ions from hot water of above 280°C, esp. filtered water of atomic power generation using a boiling water reactor. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio
