titleOfInvention Method and apparatus for reducing cod in wet desulfurization
abstract PURPOSE: To restrain the formation of dithionic acid which is an origin of COD, by discharging Ca-containing slurry, which has been charged to an oxidizing tower in order to form gypsum, from the oxidizing tower so as to control the residence time in the tower when the desulfurization load decreases. n CONSTITUTION: Lime slurry discharged from a reaction tank 10 is fed 24 to an oxidizing tower 11, into which is introduced 19 oxidizing air through the bottom of the tower 11 in order to agitate and aerate the slurry, and the air having aerated is released 26. After being oxidized, the slurry is discharged 25 through plural exits installed at a regular interval with different heights, then through one of discharge lines 27W30 by the operation of valves 31W34 installed on the respective lines. At the time of maximum load for the desulfurizing apparatus and maximum slurry rate, the valve 31 only is opened, and only any one of valves 31, 32, 33 is opened according to the decrease in the slurry-feed rate, i.e., the residence time of slurry in the tower 11 is controlled independently of the variation in the load for desulfurization apparatus so as to prevent the dithionic acid from increasing. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio
