abstract | PURPOSE: Title fibers of increased tenacity with large product of strength and elongation at break and low friction coefficient between fibers, which are composed of a polyester containing mainly ethylene terephthalate units and having a specific intrinsic viscosity. n CONSTITUTION: Polyester fibers which have 0.7 or higher intrinsic viscosity measured in o-chloropenol solutions at 25°c, ethylene terephthalate as major recurring units, 100, preferably 120 or more product of strength in g/d and elongation in % at break and 0.22 or less friction coefficient between fibers are made into ropes through conventional processes, thereby increasing the tenacity by over 10% and suiting to produce high-tenacity ropes of 3mm or more diameter. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio |
