titleOfInvention Preparation of alkyd resin for coating use
abstract PURPOSE: To prepare an alkyd resin capable of affording coating film of high gloss using the modified raw material of supply stability potential, by reaction of a polyhydric alcohol with a polycarboxylic acid adduct of a monohydric higher alcohol. n CONSTITUTION: A polycarboxylic acid (or its anhydride) is subjected to addition reaction to a monohydric higher alcohol having 10-20C. The resulting adduct is then made to react with a polyhydric alcohol. The monohydirc alcohol to be applied is, e.g. a synthetic alcohol obtained from ethylene through Ziegler process, from an olefinic compound through oxo-process, from a paraffin through an air-oxidation process, etc.; such as 10C oxoalcohol, 13C oxoalcohol, etc. Also, alcohols produced by reduction of naturally-occurring fatty acids may be cited as the examples; e.g. decyl alcohol, lauryl alcohol, etc n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio
