abstract | PURPOSE: To provide an insect growth inhibitor which puts insects to secondary death by damaging the eyes of the insects by the action of ultraviolet light which transmit only through insect's eye, and nevertheless has no detrimental effects against vertebrate aminals, containing retinal and a schiff base or a thiazolidinering- forming compound as effective components. n CONSTITUTION: An insect growth inhibitor which damages the visual sence of insects, containing (A) retinal (vitamin A aldehyde) and (B) a compound which forms a schiff base (e.g. lysine, ammeline, ammelide, etc.) or forms a thiazolidine ring (e.g. cysteine).
