titleOfInvention | Oxygen capturing composition |
abstract | PURPOSE:To provide an oxygen capturing compsn. consisting of metal such as Fe, Cu or Zn and sodium silicate hydrate which compsn. effectively absorbs oxygen in a closed vessel to preserve food, etc. in the vessel from decay or deterioration, and is used as a heating element since it generates heat by absorption of oxygen. CONSTITUTION:Metal (A) selected from iron, copper and zinc is mixed with sodium silicate hydrate (B) or further mixed with a metal halide (C) such as NaCl to provide an oxygen capturing compsn. As the metal A iron is industrially effective in respect of oxygen absorbing speed, absorbing vol. and low cost, and it is desirable to use the metal in the form of below 100 mesh particles. The mixing ratio of the component B is pref. 0.1-20 parts to 1 part of the component A, and that of the component C 0.01-20 parts. The addn. of the component C increases the rate of reaction of the compsn. with oxygen. |
