titleOfInvention Polyester film
abstract PURPOSE:A polyester film that is prepared by stretching biaxially a modified polyester wherein the film is made more oriented in the drawing direction A than in the drawing direction B, thus showing high Young's moduldus, high dimensional stability and high anisotropic properties. CONSTITUTION:A polyester prepared from the acid component consisting of 20-65 mol% of 4,4'-diphenyl dicarboxylic acid and 80-35 mol% of terephthalic acid and the glycol component mainly consisting of ethylene glycol is melt extruded to form undrawn films. Then, the films are biaxially stretched in both traverse and lengthwise directions at a draw ratio of 2.5-10 wherein the difference in draw ratio between both directions is preferably made over 1.5, thus the Young's modulus in direction A is over 600 kg/mm<2>, which is over 1,2 times that in direction B. Thus, the polyester film having refractive indexes shown by the equation (nA, nB are refractive indexes in direction A and B respectively).
