abstract PURPOSE: The reaction is effected by adding dialkyl 9-anthrylmethylphosphonate and a solution of aldehyde into a dispersion or solution of strong-base alkaline compound to produce title compound useful as a photoconductive substance in high purity. n CONSTITUTION: The reaktion between a compound of formula I (X is H, halogen; R 1 is 1W4C alkyl) and an aldehyde of formula II (R 2 is aromatic residue that may be substituted or heterocycle residue as N-ethylcarbazolyl) is carried out by adding them into a dispersion or solution of a strong-base alkali compound as lithium hydroxide or sodium hydroxide at 10W180°C. n EFFECT: No by-product insoluble or hard soluble is formed and the objective compound can be obtained in high yield.
