Liquid crystal compound |
abstract |
NEW MATERIAL:Compounds of the formula (R is 3W6C straight-chain alkyl). n EXAMPLE: 4-n-Pentylcyclohexylcarboxylic acid. n USE: Liquid crystal only in trans isomers; they have wide temperature range of about 50°C to keep nematic state and further very low viscosity, thus being high compatible with other nematic liquid crystal compounds. n PREPARATION: A corresponding 4-n-alkylbenzoic acid is dissolved in an alcohol in an amount of 3W5 times the volume of the benzoic acid and hydrogenated with hydrogen in an amount of double the stoichimetric one under pressures of 150W200 atmospheric one in an autoclave with shaking for 1W4 hours to produce the objective compound of the formula. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio |
