NEW MATERIAL:A tricyclic α,β-unsaturated ketone of formula I: (R 1 and R 2 are H, 1W5C alkyl groups, and at least one of them is H; group of formula II is bonded to the exo side of the norbornane ring at the 8- or 9-position; the dotted line bond may not be present). n EXAMPLE: 4-(Endo-tricyclo [5.2.1.0 2 , 6 ] deca-3-ene-8-exo-yl)-but-3ene-2-one. n USE: Perfuming components haing woody fragrances. Perfume compositions, soaps, shampoos, and cosmetics. n PROCESS: 8- or 9-Exo-formyl-endotricyclo[5.2.1.0 2 , 6 ] dec-3-ene is condensed with an aliphatic methyl ketone (formula IV) in the presence of a catalyst, and dehydrated to give the compound of formula I. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio |
