abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain a polyester having improved transparency and color tone, by subjecting bis(β-hydroxyethyl)terephthalate to polycondensation in the presence of an antimony, an organotin, a cobalt, and an alkali metal compounds. n CONSTITUTION: In preparation of a polyester by polycondensation of bis(β-hydroxyethyl)terephthalate or a composition consisting mainly of it in the presence of an antimony compound as a catalyst, an organotin, a cobalt, and an alkali metal compounds are added in amounts to satisfy quantitative relations shown by the formulae respectively, 1/10 4 ≤ A ≤ 10×10 -4 , 0.01 ≤ B/A ≤ 0.2, 0.2×10 -4 ≤ C ≤ 2×10 -4 , 0.1 ≤ D/A ≤ 3, (A, B, C, and D are numbers of moles of antimony, tin, cobalt, and the alkali metal atoms based on 1 mole of an acid component forming the polyester). n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio |
