PURPOSE: A crosslinking agent for high polymers that is composed of α,α-dimethylbenzyl peroxide or α,α-dimenthyl-p-isopropylbenzyl peroxide, thus being accurately weighed, and readily and safely blended to give consistent molded products. n CONSTITUTION: To 100 parts by wt of a high-molecular weight polymer are incorporated 0.1W10, preferably 0.5W5 parts, of α,α-dimethylbenzyl peroxide or α,α-dimethyl-p-isopropylbenzyl peroxide resulting from reaction between (a) α,α-dimethylbenzyl hydroperoxide or cumene hydroperoxide and (b) α,α-dimethyl- p-isopropylbenzyl alcohol or between (a') α,α-dimethyl-p-isopropylbenzyl hydroperoxide and (b') α,α-dimethylbenzyl alcohol in the presence of an acidic catalyst. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio |
