abstract PURPOSE:To prevent decay, decomposition or deterioration of foods, pharmaceuticals, metals, precision instruments, etc. by using the title compsn. consisting of one or more out Fe, Cu and Zn, FeSO4 7H2O and sodium alum or further contg. a metal halide to capture O2. CONSTITUTION:The title compsn. is obtd. by adding 0.01-100, pref. 0.05-50, esp. 0.1-20 parts by wt. of FeSO4 7H2O and sodium alum to 1 part of one or more out of Fe, Cu and Zn or further adding 0.001-100, pref. 0.01-50, esp. below 20 parts of a metal halide. This product is used as an O2 leakage detecting material as well as a heating element, e.g. a medical material such as hot compress pack and insulating material, a food heating material, a material for protection against cold, an antifreezing agent, etc.
