titleOfInvention Sheath-core type composite fibers and their manufacture
abstract PURPOSE: Sheath-core type composite fibers having improved hygroscopicity and water absorption, free from loss of other properties, comprising sheath parts having uniform micropores over the sheath cross-section, and core parts consisting of polyester incorporated with a polyoxyalkylene glycol. n CONSTITUTION: Sheath-core type composite fibers comprising (A) core parts consisting of a mixture of (a) a polyester consisting mainly of repeating units of formula (n is an integer 2W6) as core parts and (b) a polyoxyalkylene glycol substantially nonreactive with (a) and (B) sheath parts consisting of the polyester (a) having micropores arranged uniformly over the sheath cross-section in the fiber axis direction, wherein at least part of the micropores are communicated with each other. Preferably, the diameter of the micropores is 0.001W5μm and the total cross- sectional area of them is 0.01W50% based on the sheath cross-sectional area. The amount of the glycol (b) is 0.1W20 wt.% based on the polyester in the core parts. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio
