abstract PURPOSE: To prepare the title compound useful as a photo-stabilizer of a polymer, an intermediate of medicines, etc., in high purity and yield, without using complicated steps, by reacting acetone and an acidic condensate of acetone with acetonine in the presence of a specific catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: The objective title compound is prepared by reacting acetone and/ or an acidic condensate of acetone (pref. diacetonealcohol) with 2,2,4,4,6-pentamethyl-2,3,4,5-tetrahydropirimidine acetonine in the presence of a catalyst comprising hydrogen halide salt of hydrazine or hydrazine derivative of formula (R 1-4 are alkyl, cycloalkyl, etc.; X is Br, Cl, etc.; n is 1,2), e.g. hydrazine, N-methylhydrazine, etc. The amount of the catalyst is ≥0.01wt.%, pref. 0.05W10.0 wt.% of the acetone and acidic condensate of acetone. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio
