titleOfInvention | Water-hydrogen isotope exchange reactor having economizer |
abstract | PURPOSE: To provide the subject reactor wherein a water-hydrogen isotope reaction tower and a water electrolytic bath are combined thereby to remove and concentrate tritium in light water or heavy water. n CONSTITUTION: Water 3 supplied from the upper part of an isotope exchange tower 1 flows down the exchange tower, and decomposed into a hydrogen gas 5 and an oxygen gas 8 in the water electrolytic bath 4. The hydrogen gas 5 rises up through the exchange tower 1, and comes into countercurrent contact with feed water 3 in the presence of a catalyst 2, thereby enriching heavy hydrogen in the feed water 3. The hydrogen gas 7 flowing out of the tower top portion and the oxygen gas 8 generated from the electrolytic bath 4 are respectively introduced into a fuel cell 15, and recombined with water. Electric energy 14 generated within the fuel cell is supplied into the water electrolytic bath 4. It is desirable to use as a fuel cell one using a solid electrolyte. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio |
