titleOfInvention Dehydration of cationic water-soluble polymer
abstract PURPOSE: To prepare a dehydrated cationic water-soluble polymer useful as flocculants, dehydrating agents, etc. without change of the particle size, efficiently, by the azeotropic distillation of the polymer in the presence of the specific cellulose. n CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution of a vinyl monomer expressed by the formula (R 1 is CH 3 , etc.; R 2 and R 3 are 1W4C alkyl; R 4 is 1W8C alkyl, etc.; Y is 2W4C alkylene, etc.; X - is anion), or it mixture with monomers copolymerizable with it, is prepared. A dispersing medium, e.g. toluene, etc. (preferably 1W5 parts by weight on the basis of 1 part by weight of the polymerizate) is added to the solution and the polymerization, e.g. suspension polymerization, etc., is carried out. A dispersing stabilizer, e.g. cellulose acetate butyrate, etc. (preferably 0.5W5wt.% on the basis of the dispersing medium) is added to the product and the polymer is dehydrated by azeotropic distillation. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio
