abstract | NEW MATERIAL:A 2,3-dicyano-5-halopyrazine derivative of flomula I: (A is H, lower alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, mono-amino group, or 3-7 membered monofunctional N-containing heterocyclic group having direct bond at the N atom; X is halogen). n EXAMPLE: 2,3-Dicyano-5-chloropyrazine. n USE: Herbicides used before and/or during sprouting, for both irrigated paddy field and plowed field treatment, having high applicability to soil and cormophytic treatment, and usable for agriculture and horticulture (particularly for irrigated baddy fields). Annual weeds, e.g. barnyard grass, are completely prevented without damaging planted rice. n PROCESS: A 2,3-dicyano-5-hydroxypyrazine derivative of formula II: (A 1 is H, lower alkyl or aryl group) is halogenated with a halogenating agent, e.g. phosphorus pentachloride, to give the objective compound of formula I. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio |
