titleOfInvention Preparation of partially hydrolyzed acrylamide polymer
abstract PURPOSE: To remove the residual ammonia odor from an acrylamide polymer without lowering the flocculating activity of the polymer, by adding specific amounts of sodium dihydrogenphosphate and/or calcium chloride to a partially hydrolyzed acrylamide polymer. n CONSTITUTION: A water-containing gel polymer prepared by polymerizing an acrylamide-containing aqueous solution is granulated, partially hydrolyzed with an aqueous solution of a caustic alkali or an alkali carbonate, and dried to attain ≤20 wt.% water content. The dried polymer is compounded with 1W15, preferably 2W10 wt.% of sodium dihydrogenphosphate and/or calcium chloride. n USE: Flocculants. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio
