(57) Abstract: A method for passive immunization of cancer patients using an IgG monoclonal antibody against mucin-type glycoprotein, and a method for producing a vaccine for active immunization with a mucin-type glycoprotein or a synthetic polysaccharide bound to a carrier polymer. (A) A purified mucin-type glycoprotein having a Tn or sialyl-Tn epitope, a chemically synthesized carbohydrate component linked to a purified nuclear structure or a carrier molecule of the mucin-type glycoprotein, and A vaccine comprising a substance capable of inducing an immune response, comprising a pharmacologically effective amount of an antigen, and (b) a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, diluent or excipient is administered to a subject to induce an immune response against cancer cells.
