(57) Abstract: A histidine kinase polypeptide and a polynucleotide encoding the polypeptide are provided. The present invention provides an isolated polynucleotide consisting of a polynucleotide having at least 70% identity to a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide consisting of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2; histidine kinase polypeptide and histidine It provides a polynucleotide encoding a kinase polypeptide and methods for producing the polypeptide by recombinant techniques. Further, there is provided a method of utilizing a histidine kinase polypeptide to screen for antimicrobial compounds. |
