abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method for producing octaphenylcyclotetrasiloxane or sym-tetramethyltetraphenylcyclotetrasiloxane in high yield. SOLUTION: The dialkoxydiphenylsilane or dialkoxymethylphenylsilane dissolves, but octaphenylcyclotetrasiloxane or tetramethyltetraphenylcyclotetrasiloxane is dissolved in a solvent or a solvent mixture which is hardly soluble or insoluble. By hydrolyzing alkoxydiphenylsilane or dialkoxymethylphenylsilane with a base catalyst, octaphenylcyclotetrasiloxane or sym-tetramethyltetraphenylcyclotetrasiloxane is produced in high yield. |
