(57) [Summary]nThe present invention is a method of preparing a system for delivering a bioactive agent and a composition prepared thereby. The present invention involves forming a solid dispersion of the bioactive agent in an increased energy state in a water-soluble polymer miscible with the bioactive agent. The bioactive agent is converted to an increased energy state and immobilized in such a state in a water-soluble polymer, so that the bioactive agent becomes bioavailable upon dissolution of the polymer. The methods and compositions have been shown to be extremely effective in delivering drugs and other bioactive ingredients that are otherwise substantially insoluble. |
