(57) Summary The p21 gene encodes a cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor that affects cell cycle progression, but the role of this gene product in altering tumor growth has not been previously established. According to the present invention, it has been found that the growth of malignant cells in vivo is suppressed by the expression of p21. Due to the expression of p21, the accumulation of cells at G 0 / G 1 leads to morphological changes and cell differentiation. |
