Induction of plant male sterility by high levels of avidin expression |
abstract |
(57) [Summary]nBy increasing the endogenous concentration of avidin in plant tissues, it is possible to produce male-sterile plants. This effect can be achieved by creating a transgenic plant carrying an expression vector in which a DNA sequence encoding avidin is connected under the control of a promoter. Methods for restoring male fertility are also disclosed. |
